For the last 80 years the Guidi Family has been capable of putting their passion and their many-years' experience in producing wine, to the test to offer all the best of Tuscany nowadays.
It was produced for the first time in1929 and it still has a distinctive character in the present time, that is its nature of family-run business, with a layered know-how handed down from one generation to another.
Taking to heart the experience of the fathers and adding the innovative creativeness from the sons: a successful mix bringing Guidi through innovation year after year, until the production of the current line of wines, a true expression of the Tuscan territory, perfect in details.
The main purpose of Guidi is to obtain, from its own companies on the hills of Poggibonsi and San Gimignano, selected and prestigious wines produced by experts in the field and distinguished by an extremely aesthetic awareness that is able to cherish people's glass and table through the unique expression of taste, sight and quality.
Guidi's companies are located in two strategic places of Chianti region:
the historical headquarters are placed in Poggibonsi from 1929, a renewed building provided with all the essential technologies for production, storage, refinement and packaging of wine.
The other company, located in San Gimignano in the "IL CASTAGNOLO" estate, sticks to the traditions.
These locations represent a real heritage in the Tuscan territory operating with advanced innovation technologies, but always being careful to the tradition enhancing the originality of making wine and proper enology with the youngest generations of sons along with the experimentation of new trends of cultivation for watchful and demanding customers.
For these reasons Guidi Company, even renewing several of its vineyards, has kept its connection to the land.
In its lands made of clayish middle mixture, with high presence of shell, the Guidi Company carries on traditional cultivating grapevine with spurred rope, gujot and capovolto toscano (gujot and archetto) adapting the one to the other according to the nature of the field, keeping line plantations with the density of 3500-5000 plants for hectare from the highest hill of 500 metres above sea level, to the lowest and best suitable hill of 300 metres above sea level exposed properly to south south-west.
San Gimignano is the most qualified for grapevine cultivation, here in the farm "Il Castagnolo", where land, exposition and specific microclimate provide an excellent fundamentals, are cultivated Chianti and Vernaccia grapevines.
It's right here, just after the wine-making process, that the wines grow up and shape themselves inside a refinement cellar of ancient generation including a barrel department of various size oak barrels that can easily express different scents and particular taste, from which the blends are born:
